Summary In English
This story is about a poor girl, Tara and her mother. One day one old woman gave Tara a magic pot in a forest. The old woman told her that “the pot will cook porridge when you say ‘Cook-Pot-Cook’and stop making them when you say ‘Stop-Pot-Stop’.” Tara take that pot to her home. One day Tara was not at home. Her mother was hungry. She said ‘Cook-Pot-Cook’and porridge started coming out of the pot.

But the mother did not know how to stop the pot. She became scared as her home was filled with porridge all around. Soon there was porridge everywhere. The whole village was filled with porridge. Suddenly, Tara came back she saw porridge everywhere on the roads. She ran quickly towards her home and said ‘Stop-Pot-Stop’. The pot stopped cooking porridge quickly.

यह कहानी एक गरीब लड़की, तारा तथा उसकी माँ के बारे में है। एक दिन एक बूढ़ी औरत ने तारा को जंगल में एक जादुई बरतन दिया। बूढी औरत ने उससे कहा कि जब वह कहेगी कि ‘पकाओ बरतन, पकाओ’ तो दलिया ऊंगा। दलिया पकना तब बंद हो जाएगा, जब वह कहेगी, रुको बरतन, रुकों। तारा उस बरतन को अपने घर ले अाई। एक दिन तारा घर पर नहीं थी। उसकी माँ भूखी थी। उसने कहा-पकाओ बरतन, पकाओ। उसके साथ ही दलिया बरतन से बाहर आने लगा।

किंतु माँ को यह नहीं पता था कि बरतन को दलिया पकने से रोका कैसे जाए। वह घबरा गई, क्योंकि दलिया पूरे घर में भर गया। फिर पूरा गाँव दलिया से भर गया। एकाएक तारा वापस आई।। उसने सड़क पर चारों ओर दलिया फैले देखा। वह तेज़ी से अपने घर की तरफ भागी तथा कहा ‘रुको बरतन, रुको, और बरतन ने दलिया पकाना तुरंत बंद कर दिया।

Hindi Translation Of The Story
1. Once, there was a little girl named
Tara. She lived with her mother. They
were very poor. One day she went to a
forest. There she met an old woman.

एक समय की बात है, तोरा नामक एक छोटी-सी
लड़की थी। वह अपनी माँ के साथ रहती थी। वे
बहुत गरीब थे। एक दिन वह जंगल में गई। वहाँ
वह एक बूढी औरत से मिली।

Word-Meanings : Forest (फॉरेस्ट) -Jungle, जंगल।

2. The old woman gave her a pot. She
said, “This is a magic pot. It will cook
porridge for you when you say, ‘Cook-
Pot-Cook’. It will stop making porridge
when you say, Stop-Pot-Stop’.”

बूढ़ी औरत ने उसे एक बरतन दिया। उसने कहा,
“यह एक जादुई बरतन है। जब तुम ‘पकाओ
बरतन, पकाओ, कहोगी तब यह तुम्हारे लिए दलिया
पकाएगा। जब तुम ‘रुको बरतन, रुको’ कहोगी तब
यह दलिया बनाना बंद कर देगा।”

Word-Meanings : Pot (पॉट) -a versal (utensil) बरतन, Magic (मैजिक) -tricky, जादुई Porridye (पॉरिज) -a kind of food needle or crushed wheat, दलिया।

3. Tara was very happy. She ran to her
mother and said, “Mother, we will no
longer be hungry as I have got a magic pot.”

तारा बहुत खुश थी। वह अपनी माँ के पास
दौड़कर गई तथा बोली-“माँ, अब हम भूखे नहीं
रहेंगे क्योंकि मुझे एक जादुई बरतन मिला है।”

Word-Meanings : No longer (नो लांगर) -not now, अब नहीं। Hungry (हंग्री)-feeling to eat something, भूखा।

4. Tara said to the pot, “Cook-Pot-Cook” and
the pot cooked porridge. Her mother was
very happy and they both ate porridge.

तारा ने बरतन से कहा-“पकाओ बरतन, पकाओ।”
और बरतन ने दलिया पकाना प्रारंभ कर दिया।
उसकी माँ बहुत खुश थी। सब ने मिलकर दलिया खाया।

Word-Meanings : Happy (हैपी) -in a jolly mood, खुश। Ate (ऐट) -took swallowed, खा लिया।

5. One day, when Tara had gone out, her
mother felt hungry. She said to the pot,
“Cook-Pot-Cook.” The pot started cooking
porridge.

एक दिन जब तारा बाहर चली गई तो उसकी माँ
को भूख लगी। उसने बरतन से कहा- “पकाओ
बरतन, पकाओ।” बरतन ने दलिया पकाना शुरू
कर दिया।

Word-Meanings : Gone out (गॉन आउट) -went somewhere, कहीं चली गई।

6. After eating it her mother said, “Do not
cook Pot”. But the pot went on cooking.
Soon the porridge started spilling on the
floor, Mother called out again, “Wait – do
not cook anymore.” But the pot did not
stop.

दलिया खाने के बाद, माँ ने कहा-“मत पकाओ
बरतन।” किंतु बरतन पकाता गया। थोड़ी देर में
दलिया फ़र्श पर फैलना शुरू कर दिया। माँ ने
फिर कहा-“रुको, अब मत पकाओ।” किंतु
बरतन नहीं रुका।

Word-Meanings : Spilling (स्पिलिंग) -Flow over, उमड़कर बहना। Anymore (एनिमोर) -no more, और नहीं।

7. Mother ran out of the house and the
porridge followed her. Soon there was
porridge everywhere. The whole village
saw it. They ran to eat the porridge.

माँ घर से बाहर भागी और दलिया उसके
पीछे-पीछे बहने लगा। तुरंत चारों ओर दलिया भर
गया। सारे गाँव ने इस घटना को देखा। दलिया
खाने के लिए वे लोग भागे।

Word-Meanings : Followed (फ़ॉलोड) -pursued, accompanied पीछा किया। Village (विलेज) -a rural area, गाँव।।

8. When Tara came back, she saw that the
road was full of porridge. She ran back as
fast as she could. She heard her mother
shout, “Tara the pot is cooking and it
will not stop.” Tara called out, “Stop-Pot-
Stop” and it stopped cooking porridge.

जब तारा वापस आई तो उसने देखा कि सः
दलिया से भरी हुई है। वह तेजी से घर की
तरफ भागी। उसने अपनी माँ को चिल्लाते हुए
सुना-“तारा, बरतन पकाता जा रहा है और अब यह
बंद नहीं होगा।” तारा बोली, “रुको बरतन, रुको।”
और बरतन ने दलिया पकाना बंद कर दिया।
